Monday 29 - Today in class we finished working on our t-shirts. We also did some vocabulary listening and practice. Homework: finish your t-shirt and bring to class tomorrow.

If you were absent today, you will need to read your shirt to me when you get back. You will not have an opportunity to walk the red carpet though. Homework: study your flash cards for the test Thursday.
Wednesday 31 - Today we played a review game in preparation for our test tomorrow over Lesson 1. Homework: study for your test and practice pronouncing the words!
Thursday 1 - Today we took the Lesson 1 test. No homework. If you were absent, you MUST come see me to schedule a time during study skills or after school to make up the test within a week. Otherwise it will be a zero!
Friday 2 - Today we began lesson 2. The students already have the lesson 2 vocabulary sheet, which is on numbers. It's in their vocab section. We made flash cards for the new words. No homework.

T-shirt Fashion Show Project Information
Hola parents! As you may know, we started making Spanish t-shirts on Thursday the 25th and we're working on them in class Friday the 26th and Monday the 29th. On Tuesday during class they should have their completed t-shirts ready and with them for our fashion show.
The students are using sharpie markers or crayola fabric markers on their shirts. To make sure their shirts don't get ruined (or they don't ruin other clothes), you should put the shirt by itself in the dryer for 30 minutes on high heat. If you don't have a dryer you can iron both sides on high for 4-5 minutes each. This will set the colors. Do not attempt to wash the shirt without doing this first, as it will most likely bleed colors.
On Tuesday the students will walk down a red carpet and show off their shirt to the class. They will say all the Spanish words too. Thanks for your help with making this a fun learning opportunity for the students.

Welcome 7th Grade Spanish Students and Parents!
Saludos to my new 7th Grade Spanish class and their parents or guardians! Welcome to a new year here at the Academy of Tucson Middle School. I have created this class blog so that you may see what we are working on in class, get homework if you're absent, and occasionally get extra credit opportunities. I update this blog every Monday morning for that upcoming week. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at jmiller@atmschool.net. Muchas gracias.
Supplies for Spanish Class and How to Make the Binder
For Spanish class this year you will need to buy the following. This is the same information found on the Master Supply List that the office distributed during the summer:
1. 3 ring binder with inside pockets, 1 inch wide
2. 5 binder dividers
3. 300 3x5 index cards, lined (colored or white)
4. 15 sandwich sized Ziploc bags (they must zip closed)
5. A package of colored pencils OR markers to contribute to the class supply
Bring the index cards, bags, and colored pencils (or markers) to school as soon as you can and I will put them into our class supplies.
For the class binder, never put materials for other classes in your binder. Your binder needs to be organized and ready to go by Friday, August 19. On that day I will do a binder check for points. To make your binder, on the outside front cover write Spanish and your name. Write the same along the spine. You may decorate it as you like or leave it undecorated. Label your dividers as follows and click them in the following order into your binder’s rings. Make sure to have 30 pieces of paper behind each of the first three sections only.
1) Bellwork (in this section we will do weekly bellwork sheets. They are very important!)
2) Classwork (this is where we write notes or do writing and listening activities in class)
3) Vocabulary (this is where you store vocabulary sheets I give you and write new words)
4) Worksheets (this is where you store all worksheets I give you)
5) Old Tests (this is where you store old quizzes and tests for reference)
